Guest Post: Start Your Day Right

Even if you don’t like the idea of having full meal early in the morning you have to feed your body. Most of us are rushing to work on an empty stomach. But your body needs the energy to wake up and get you through the morning. In just a couple hours your blood sugar levels will drop and you start craving the sugar – pastry, doughnut or some other unhealthy choice.

Here’s the typical excuses for skipping breakfast and some healthy options:

“I’m trying to lose weight” People skipping breakfast or lunch tend to overeat later in the day. By starting your day with light yoghurt and fruit, like berries or banana you rev up your metabolism and burn more more calories than those who skip meals.

“I don’t like breakfast food” A sandwich with turkey and cheese will get you the energy you need. Another option is scrambled tofu with veggies.

“I don’t like to eat in the morning” You can snack all morning on nuts and fresh fruit. Or drink your breakfast in the form of a protein shake.

“A cup of coffee is all I need” Coffee might give you the energy but it comes from sugar and caffeine. It won’t last you till lunch either. A better option would be to have your coffee with protein like cottage cheese.

“I don’t have time” Your morning meal doesn’t have to be time consuming. You can prepare everything you need the night before, like a sandwich you can have on your way to work or yoghurt and granola to eat at work.

  1. I cannot even think of one reason why I wouldn’t eat breakfast. I love breakfast.
