Deal of the Week: Get More From Your Beauty Products

When my bottle of shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body lotion, etc. is just about gone, I tip the bottle upside-down and make sure to use every last bit. A lot of people do this, but I go one step further: I cut off the top with scissors and make sure to use it all.

If there’s a lot of product leftover, I’ll use a plastic baggie and an elastic band to cover the contents so it doesn’t dry up as I use the last of it. Especially with face wash and lotion, this makes the product last at least a week or longer, which, of course, saves me money in the long run. Maybe I’m a cheapskate, but every last drop of product is money in my pocket!

What are some “weird” ways that you save money?

  1. I don’t think this is weird at all. I do it all the time. There’s so much left in the containers if you don’t!

  2. I do that, too. One thing I don’t like that my fiance does is adding water to shampoo/facewash to make it come out or last longer. It totally dilutes it! I reuse ziploc bags often – I bring baby carrots or dry cereal or something to work and I’ll reuse the bags as many times as I can.

  3. I do this too! I especially do it for the undereye cover-up makeup I use. It is in a tube and there is still a ton left in there after you can’t get anymore out the top. I just wrap it in a baggie like you do, and it does last at least another week.
