This simple-to-assemble appetizer features the winning combination of creamy goat cheese, tart apples, rich nuts and tangy ginger.

- 2 Granny Smith apples n(NuVal score: 96), cored and cut into 24 slices
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped Wonderful Pistachios Roasted & Saltede (NuVal score: 41)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped candied ginger
Directions:

Did you know that Barbara’s Bakery now has a whole ‘family’ of Puffins cereals? Who knew!? They now offer 7 different varities!

- Puffins Multigrain
- Puffins Honey Rice
- Puffins Original
- Puffins Peanut Butter
- Puffins Cinnamon
- Puffin Puffs, Fruit Medley
- Puffin Puffs, Crunchy Cocoa

As you can imagine, seven different kinds of Puffins made choosing a box a little difficult for me. Initially, I selected the flavors that sounded most delicious and somewhat healthy (peanut butter, cinnamon, original, and multigrain). But, then I had to compare the nutrition fact to see which was the more nutritious option. Of course, this was time-consuming and awkward, especially since I was doing it at Whole Foods on a Sunday morning just before an impending snow storm. I was totally THAT person!

Imagine if I had the NuVal system on-hand in the cereal aisle to help me make an informed decision. It would have taken me no time to pick a box of Puffins!

Eventually, I decided on Peanut Butter (NuVal score: 24). My favorite!
NuVal hasn’t scored all of the Puffin varities yet, but, if you’re curious, the cinnamon flavor scores a 29 on the NuVal scale.
Am I the only one who struggles to find delicious and nutritious options in the cereal aisle of the grocery store?
