Trade
One the recipes that I planned for this week, Cheesy Baked Pasta With Spinach and Artichokes, called Frozen Creamed Spinach (Green Giant gets a 34 on the NuVal scale), but I traded up to Frozen Chopped Spinach (no cream), which gets a 100.

Save
This week’s Save was all about meal planning! Before I made our grocery list for the week, I checked out what we already had in our cabinets and refrigerator and tried to incorporate them into this week’s meals. Here’s what I came up with:
- Sunday: Rocco’s Fettuccine Alfredo
- Monday: Cheesy Baked Pasta With Spinach and Artichokes
- Tuesday: Leftovers of Cheesy Baked Pasta + Salad
- Wednesday: Tempura Shrimp + Roasted Broccoli
- Thursday: Tuna Melts + Salad
- Friday: Beer Dinner
- Saturday: Not sure yet. We’ll probably wing it!

I did a tuna melt this week and it was fantastic. Sometimes the simplest dinner really hits the spot!
I bought both shrimp and siggi’s for the first time this week and would love to know the Nuval score (Siggi’s was finally on sale which brought the price slightly lower 4 for $7-darn living in NYC).
I think meal planning is key. It allows you to shop with multiple meals in mind, without just buying random ingredients and then figuring out how to work them in.
What was the total for this week’s shopping trip? And how many times do you usually go back to replenish veggies/fruits midweek?
PS- I love that the husband goes to do the shopping for you. My grocery haul would not look like that if I had the boyfriend go shopping (unless I wrote a specific list with brands and such).
We’d probably have half healthy, half cans of soup and sugar cereal. But, that makes things fun once in a while.
looks great. I’m trying to keep track of my spending too. Glad to be able to see someone else’s trips to the grocer!
Looks like a wonderful meal plan! What was the total for this trip? I’m curious… How often do you buy nut butters?!

I should plan like you, I end up munching too much trying to decide what to make!
Much obliged for the article and for publishing a good site. I have been looking for good info on natural health and can put this information to practice. I have found it hard to find good ideas, as there are tons of web sites with useless articles. Certainly keep the good information flowing!
