Have You Tried Oat Bran?

Don’t get me wrong, I love a big bowl of Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats (NuVal score: 57) for breakfast, but sometimes, I need to switch things up in the morning. For a change of place, I tried Hodgson Mill Oat Bran Hot Cereal the other day. It scores a 60 on the NuVal scale, which isn’t a huge trade-up, but it’s still a trade-up in my book!

Oat Bran is very similar to old-fashioned oats, but it is a bit smoother in texture. Nutritionally speaking, a 1/2 cup serving of Hodgson Mill Oat Bran has few calories, but more fiber and protein than Quaker Old-Fashioned Oats.

This morning, I added 1/4 cup Libby’s canned pumpkin (NuVal score: 94) and Dole raisins (NuVal score: 88) to my oat bran.

  27. I scored 70. However, I noticed a few interesting things during the game when there are two products with the same thing. Reduced fat cheez-its and Giant green bean casserole are both have a score of 23 but apparently you have to rank the casserole higher. Also, healthy choice hearty 7 grain bread and pork tenderloin both score 35, but you have to place pork tenderloin higher. I know it’s just a computer issue on how it ranks things, but just thought I’d mention it. I really like the game! Very informative!
