Instead of snacking on tortilla chips (Tostitos 100% White Corn Restaurant Style score just a 23 on the NuVal scale), I make my own homemade pita chips in the toaster oven.

Just cut a whole-wheat pita, like Middle East Bakery Pita Bread, Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat Flour (NuVal score: 65), into small triangles, spray them with no-calorie cooking spray, sprinkle with a little salt, and toast for about two minutes. They taste just as good as regular tortilla chips, but they are much more nutritious for you. You can even add garlic salt, cinnamon, or paprika to jazz them up.

The pita chips are also great with the a little of the salad dressing spritzers sprayed on them for different flavors. I haven’t made these in years and totally forgot about them, yay for a new weekend snack!
What a great recipe! I tend to go crazy on pita chips (like Stacy’s) so making my own would definitely help me keep the calorie count down. Thanks for sharing
I love making my own pita chips too! They’re super easy and turn out great.
We used to make these all the time when I worked at a school. The kids were able to take part and they were so good! We covered them in cinnamon and sugar. Definitely an afternoon snack to then send them home to mom and dad
I always forget that I can make these. Thanks for hte reminder of how simple they are.
