Yummy breakfast this morning!
I had a big ol’ creamy bowl of oatmeal with soy milk and banana mixed in. Delish!

Here’s what was in the mix:
- Quaker Old-Fashion Oatmeal
- Silk Light Plain Soy Milk
- Banana
So, here’s where it gets fun! If you can guess the 3 NuVal scores for the ingredients in my oatmeal, you can win a wonderful tea + chocolate prize pack!
The tea is a box of the famous and hard-to-find Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride and the chocolate is a bar of Scharffen Berger Dark as well as a big bar of Chocolove Extra Strong Dark 77% Cocoa (aka the good stuff!

In the process of this fun little search, I discovered that the Quaker website itself does not promote the old fashioned, make your own oats. When you click on products, it only shows the instant versions, which I have known for years are less healthy than the old fashioned, even before NuVal was around to tell us that!

Tina, I have a question – I see you’re always drinking soy milk instead of regular milk. How do you get your calcium? I always use regular milk with my oats, because I’m worried that I’m not getting enough calcium otherwise. But the NuVal score for regular milk is pretty low…
