I with you on the 'letting guests bring something' I know personally, I love to bring a treat or a dish to parties & I also love it when people offer to bring something to my get together!

I like the idea of EVites too!

Those mini grilled cheese sammys look so good. I would love to make them for my New Years Eve party, but were you cooking while your guests were there? I don't have a huge space to entertain and if I have my griddler out trying to make grilled cheese it cuts into our bar area. Just wondering what your timing was.

I love this post!

The idea of throwing a holiday party sounds like fun, but often discouraging due to the cost. Love your ideas!

I am a budget shopper. There are some great sales during the holidays-even on food. I like to plan my menus by what is on sale and in season. Love the mini sandwich idea!

Those mini grilled cheese sandwiches look awesome! I love Gruyere cheese too and you are right - it is expensive. I have a holiday appetizer recipe that calls for Gruyere. This year, I will try substituting Jarlsberg as you suggest. 30 is a pretty good NuVal score for cheese!
